The West Virginia University College of Law is the professional school for the study of law at West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia. The law school began in 1878 as the first professional school in the state of West Virginia. It remains the only law school in the state. The West Virginia Law Review is the fourth oldest law school journal in the nation having been founded in 1894. The law school has been a member of the Association of American Law Schools since 1914 and was given full-accreditation by the American Bar Association in 1923. The law school also maintains a chapter of the prestigious Order of the Coif since 1925.

Programs

West Virginia College of Law maintains a number of specialized academic programs. Most notable are its Business Law, International Law, Family Law and Public Interest Law programs. It also offers two joint degree programs: the JD/EMBA program with the College of Business and Economics, and the JD/MPA program with the Division of Public Administration.

Journals and publications

Founded by professor William P. Willey in February 1894, the West Virginia Law Review is the fourth oldest law school journal in the nation. The student editorial board publishes three issues of the journal each year.
